How Diabetes Signs Usually Manifest

Identifying the bigger symptoms of diabetes can help you miss out on complications with the disease. Unfortunately, many of the signs of diabetes that present themselves outside of the body are also signs of other sicknesses.

Have you noticed your weight has started to fluctuate? Are you losing weight even though you're always eating? Is this a recent change? Was there no change in diet that could have triggered the weight fluctuations? This is one of the most obvious signs of the onset of diabetes. Because diabetes messes with your potassium levels, the amount of water in your body fluctuates. As you gain or lose water, you gain or lose weight. If you find your weight fluctuating drastically and unpredictably, talk to your doctor. Have you felt more irritable without any outside reason? While every one has bad moods occasionally, unexplainable irritability could be caused by issues with your blood sugar levels. It is important to get checked for diabetes if your blood sugar levels are not stable. The reason people start becoming more irritable when they start becoming diabetic is because their body is no longer processing food correctly. So if you can't find an explanation for your mood swings, have your doctor test your for diabetes and hypoglycemia.

Do you struggle with maintaining concentration? Do you suddenly faint for reasons unknown? If you experience these symptoms you may have diabetes. This disease affects your body's ability to regulate insulin and blood sugar levels. Fluctuating blood sugar levels are the reason you may experience fainting. You may find yourself feeling like your energy levels fluctuate too much in conjunction with fainting or blurred vision, if so it is time to call your medical provider for more testing. Your blood glucose may be lower than normal. Some may find out they require insulin to regulate their blood. Your physician is the only one who can determine for sure what is happening.

How often do you go to the bathroom on a daily basis? This is perhaps something you don't feel is appropriate to answer out loud. At minimum, you should answer the question in your mind. While some may say that it is actually the excessive thirst diabetes symptom that causes this excessive urination, doctors insist that it is a symptom all by itself. It you recognize that you are always running to the bathroom--even if you aren't consuming much food or drink--you should talk to your medical professional about checking out your potassium and bladder functions. It is highly likely that when the medical professional takes these tests, they might discover diabetes.

Symptoms will not be the same for any two people. It all depends on the severity of the disease and how far along it is in your body. People have been diagnosed with diabetes who never showed one single symptom. Others may experience a whole gamet of symptoms. Your first line of defense against diabetes is knowledge of it's causes and manifestations. Recognizing the symptoms of diabetes will make it more likely for you to seek early treatment and gain fast control over the disease.
