Tweeting Teachers
by RealPTC Expert
As a new member of the Twitter community (just did my first tweet this morning!), I am nowhere near knowing the ins and outs of the world of Twitter. What I do know is that Twitter has a tremendous potential as a social media site. While the topics tweeted are as diverse as the users who tweet them, the exposure this material could have is unlimited. So why not use that for education? Thomas Whitby and Shelly Terrell were asking themselves the same question. They have since founded #Edchat - a place for teachers to get together and collaborate using Twitter as their meeting place. By using the hashtag #Edchat in their tweets, teachers all over the world can share resources and support each other. Hashtags have even been created for specific subject areas (#Engchat for English teachers and #SSchat for Social Studies for example). If you're a teacher on Twitter, I highly recommend you check these out. For more on this educational phenomenon that's sweeping across the world, check out the article Teachers Teaching Teachers on Twitter: Q and A on Edchats and the Youtube video on our Facebook page.
Happy Tweeting!
